Recent Activities
Our month has been fruitful and entertaining although the opportunity to
take photographs has typically been limited. The month started with a visit
to Bishop Auckland where our hosts were the TeesWear U3A Photographic Group.
We explained how our group started and what our philosophy is re taking
pictures and the type of equipment we use. This was in marked contrast to
TeesWear who have speakers and use expensive equipment and software.
Contributions from Dorothy, Jean, Judith, Sylvia and Frances showed the high
standard that our photographers have reached and how unnecessary it is to
use expensive items. After all, why pay £600 for software when we can obtain
the same results for nothing. This visit was followed by two visits to
Brompton where the Northallerton Photographic Club had speakers from France
and Ireland. The photos were outstanding and gave us fresh ideas and
incentive to do better next year. Following this, a visit to Nunnington Hall
to see Patrick Litchfield’s exhibition. This was definitely worth a visit.
We were fortunate to stumble on the pretty village of Nunnington and this is
a place that we will be visiting during the coming summer. We teamed up with
the Gardening Group to make a visit to Harlow Carr but although the early
morning was sunny it soon became overcast and spoilt the opportunity to
capture the wonderful colours in the garden. Brian H.
