Chairman’s Message

Welcome everyone to our July meeting.

I don't know about other members, but I am feeling particularly relaxed and enjoying this wonderful weather in spite of England's football failings and a disappointment that Andy Murray was unsuccessful in his attempt to reach the Wimbledon final.   I always feel that June is a great month with gardens and parks looking so beautiful.

Well, last month we had another excellent talk from Chris Lloyd intriguingly entitled "Four Scandals and a Gooseberry".   I held my breath as the stories unfolded.   Chris is a great story teller and his research of local history is second to none.   I believe a good morning was had by all.

This month we welcome Irene Wilkinson who will speak to us on the subject of "Save the Children".   

Don't forget to visit the side room during the meeting, there are always lots of trips on offer.

A further plea to all for assistance in putting chairs out at the beginning of the meeting please and placing them at the sides of the hall or in the side room at the end.
